A birth doula is there to ‘mother the mother’, provide families with emotional, physical, and informational support through pregnancy and birth. Becoming a part of your birth team allows you to have the birth experience that you desire.
The transition of welcoming a new baby(s) into your family can be both physically and mentally draining, especially due to sleep deprivation and uncertainty about the care of your newborn. A postpartum doula is a wealth of information on infant care, and bonding, basic breastfeeding and baby bathing, swaddling and baby wearing. Assisting with basic household duties, this allows the parents to have an extra set of professionally trained helping hands!

LaKora White
As a Detroit native and the oldest of five siblings, family and community have always been at the center of my life. I am a creative, compassionate, and dedicated mother who proudly wears many hats. My journey into birth work was fueled by a passion for advocating for Black maternal health, reducing birth trauma, and helping families feel informed, supported, and empowered throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care.
I am a DONA Certified Full Spectrum Doula, Lactation Counselor Educator (LCE), and Public Health Educator committed to improving birth outcomes and creating positive experiences for families in my community.
Based in the Metro Detroit area, I am proud to serve families with care, empathy, and education. Outside of birth work, I cherish life with my husband of more than 20 years, our two miracle children, and our two beloved fur babies.
